Hello to all!

I am back from the most fabulous wedding and honeymoon anyone could have ever asked for! Getting married is a whirlwind of excitement, nerves, and complete joy. Our wedding went by so fast, it was like a dream...a dream come true!

Our 10+ day trip to St. Lucia was also an amazing experience. It's an incredibly beautiful country and provided for some much needed R&R! :)

Now that we are back, Cynthia Spivack Photography is up and running again and we are looking forward to an incredible 2009 Holiday Season! Stay tuned for some great promotions and free giveaways and of course some much needed posting!

A Much Needed Hello and a Temoparay Goodbye!

Things have been a little... ok a lot.... crazy around here- but all for good reason! My fiance and I are getting married this Sunday in Temecula, California. I am so excited [and a little nervous too! so many people all staring at me.. ahh!] that our Big Day has finally arrived! We have been planning and prepping for months [which, unfortunately, has left dear ole' blog a little neglected... sorry!] and I can't wait to see all of our hard work come to a beautiful and happy end :)

Needless to say, poor ole' blog will still remain neglected for just a few more weeks while my husband-to-be and I are exchanging vows and then celebrating in St. Lucia [I can't wait!]. For all of my current clients and potential future clients as well, please feel free to email me while I am away. I will be periodically checking my email!

Family Travels

I am short on words today since I am headed out of town, but I wanted to put up a few adorable images before I jet off!

These little cuties are the children of the amazing creator of the Little Redheads Across America book! Ever since we worked together to create the cover image for her book we have become good friends and I was thrilled when she asked me to photograph her wonderful family before her sister, her sister's husband, and their two children move halfway across the world!

Sweet "C"

I recently had the pleasure of photographing the R family! Their sweet daughter, Ms. "C", is just so adorable and is completely apple of her parents' eye. We made the best of the gloomy weather and headed outside into their incredibly lush backyard and then went for a little stroll down the block.

I can't wait to see this little cutie again in just a few months when she'll turn the big O-N-E and see how much she's grown! Until then...here are some favorites from our first session together:

Little Redheads Across America #2

Last year I was asked to photograph some of the most adorable redheads for a wonderful book all about... you guessed it... redheads! [Click here to learn more about the book and that shoot!] The book has been a huge success and has inspired so many young red-headed children throughout America, and few weeks ago the amazing creator, author, and publisher, Nicole G., had her very first book signing!

Tons of redheads showed up to see the book and even have it signed by some of the "famous" featured redheads! The day was a total blast! Please everyone go check out Little Redheads Across America- it's an absolutely adorable book full of gorgeous photos, fun facts, and interesting info about red hair!

A Family to Celebrate

I was so honored to photograph such a special day in this family's life! They were celebrating their beautiful mother's birthday and her journey throughout the years. So many friends and family came out to celebrate, including her best friend of over 50 years and her incredible mahjong playing pals...I could instantly feel the love they all shared for the guest of honor, "Mrs. C", and for each other! {Seeing how much each of the relationships mean to everyone involved made me feel so completely blessed to also have such special friends and relationships in my life as well!}

Hugs Galore!

I could not have asked for a more perfect Saturday morning than the one like last weekend! Immediately upon walking in the door of the "P" Family, I was greeted with giant smiles, great energy, and toys! :)

This awesome greeting was followed only by hugs, hugs, and even more hugs ! Big Brother "L" was so excited I was there I almost didn't get to take any shots of him because he kept tackling me with hugs- it was SO much fun! Even with all of the hugging and toy sharing I did manage to get some "work" done too!

Beauty in Everyday Life

Sometimes it's the simplest everyday things that make me stop and really appreciate the beauty of life. I had picked up a bunch of tulips last week when I saw them at my local (and favorite!) grocery store (Trader Joe's) and after a few days of passing them by with nothing more than a quick glance- it hit me. These beautiful tulips brought me to one of those rare moments where I literally stopped in my tracks and paused to simply admire their beauty. It's these little things, these simple moments in life, that really keep me going and make me feel completely rejuvenated.

I hope these photographs bring you some serenity and inspiration too!

A Maternity Session from February

Yes...that's right back in February I photographed this amazing family who was anxiously awaiting their new bundle of joy! Well, that bundle of joy has arrived and is absolutely adorable!

Needless to say I am a bit behind on blogging (ok... 'a bit' is the understatement of the century!) but I am glad to finally be posting some of the images from their Maternity session! I'll be posting some of their adorable newborn shots soon too!

Spring Cleaning

I never really understood the whole concept of "spring cleaning"... until this year.

I have gone complete Spring Cleaning crazy! I am cleaning out every aspect of my life- my home, my office, my closet, my refrigerator... well you get the idea.

Anyway, as I was cleaning out my hard drives (and archiving everything- I promise!) I came across these images of my fabulous friend and up and coming vocalist, Elena Mitrano.

We took these photos for Elena to use as some of her promotional posters and artwork. We had a blast taking them and I just LOVE the colors!

The sun is SO pretty here- I can't wait until summer!

Ever since Thanksgiving {that's right I said THANKSGIVING} life has been non-stop! And, believe me- I wouldn't have it any other way! I just love writing extensive to-do lists and being able to cross off each line as I finish task after task... ahhhh. So fulfilling! Don't get me wrong though, my list is still flowing out the door {lol!}, but I have definitely made a noticeable dent! {who ever said planing a wedding and running a business or two is easy- we need to talk!}

Anyways, I have been meaning to post quite a few favorites from last Holiday season so the next few posts will be just that. I hope you enjoy!

I am thankful for... getting back to blogging!!

After Thanksgiving, I found myself scheduled down to the minute- which I LOVE! I find that, the busier I am the happier, more inspired, and more focused I am too. Kind of funny... but that's just what works for me I guess!

So once again, thank you to all of my wonderful clients- old and new! You all inspire me and keep me going, and make me aware of how blessed I am to do what I love... capturing amazing moments to cherish forever.

What I Am Thankful For...

With Thanksgiving tomorrow, {I honestly cannot believe it!} I have started to think about all of the things I am thankful for... really I am thankful for so many things!! But to list just a few:

1. The amazing families I have had the fortune of working with
2. Family
3. Good friends
4. It's finally starting to feel like fall in LA
and... {this may be the best one yet!!}
5. Being engaged!
I know, a totally "girlie" moment, but I just had to share!

Sweet Simone

In this two-part session, I really got to know both mom and daughter! This little 4 and half year old is so smart and so funny- She's a total ham! And, Mom, well she couldn't be sweeter. So full of life and her love for her daughter is evident in every moment. I love when I am able to really connect with the families I am photographing- it makes photography that much more special for me!

Welcoming Baby!

First, I have to start off by saying: I LOVE babies!! They instantly fill my heart with emotion and inspiration... Now, I have never met such a sweet, tiny, and calm little baby until I met this little bundle of joy. It's almost as if she knew exactly what was going and was ready for her debut! Even her mom was shocked as she opened her eyes for the first time and kept them open throughout almost the entire session.

There's nothing more special than being pregnant and the anticipation of a brand new baby! Ok, well... maybe not the last few months of pregnancy... but you know what I mean! A few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to photograph one of my favorite families! Not only are they amazing to photograph, but they are amazing to be around too- so sweet and caring and appreciative- let's just say they're AWESOME!

So needless to say, I am so happy for them to be welcoming their brand new baby girl into the world {photos to come}, and in the meantime here are some of my favorite photographs from before she was born!

I met up with this little cutie and his mom last week for one of my favorite types of sessions- Surprise Gifts! His mom wanted to surprise dad {aka: the birthday boy!} with beautiful photos of his two biggest fans.

To sum it up.... North Carolina.

For the Fourth of July Holiday, we headed east to my father's home in the mountains of North Carolina! This has been a place my family and I have had the fortune of having for about 10 years now... and I have always enjoyed vacationing there, smelling the 100% FRESH air, and taking in all that nature has to offer. But, ever since I have "grown up" and left the east coast-it's not a place I have been able to retreat to as often... yet, I think this has allowed me to truly see and appreciate everything about this magical place {even down to the tiniest blade of grass}.

My father and I have committed to making a summer outing an official "Spivack Tradition" and I am adamant that it be so. My trips out there seem to renew that "nature-girl" spirit in me, relieves any and all stresses, and awakens a deeper sense of creativity and peacefulness within me. I cannot wait until next summer {minus the long travel requirements!!}

Baby "B"!

A quick post before I head out on vacay for about a week!! {Hooray! NC here I come!} And, like usual, I am catching up again....

Before I shot the "Little Red Heads" {see previous post}I had a beautiful sunset session in Malibu. I seriously could do sessions like these everyday! First of all, the drive along the PCH is enough to melt all your stress away~ the blue ocean, they warm golden light filtering through the soft mist as it hovers along the coast, the amber rock walls speckled with green brush.... Ahhhhhh! Heaven!

Then, I slowly climbed up the two lane canyon road... trying to take in every last ounce of beauty without steering my massive pathfinder off the road. I make it to my destination and a sense of serenity has completely engulfed me {it's hard for me to realize that I am still -somewhat- in L.A.} And as if this wasn't enough... the home that was standing before me was just perfect! So quaint and welcoming, so colorful and eclectic inside, and the little baby- so adorable and sweet! His smile was just infectious!

We start to shoot a few indoors, then head out to their backyard. {Now pay attention... this is where it gets good!!} As we are shooting outside, two horses coming grazing down the hill into their yard! I was awestruck! The dad quickly ran inside and grabbed some yummy snacks for them and fed them right from his hand {he assured me that this was quite common too}! Absolutely magical!

Now, it's not that I have never seen nor fed a horse... but its always been at stables or while I was riding. But, to have two horses just come wandering into my yard on a daily basis would be a dream come true for me!

The session, needless to say, was amazing. Little Baby B and his mom were just great! Very sweet and up for just about anything! Here are some of my favorites from our sensational session....

Some Amazing News!

I am super excited to finally share this news... I am going to be published! I have been dying to
post about this, but wanted to wait until I was 100% sure {didn't want to jinx it...if you know what I mean}.

A few weeks ago I was contacted by the creator and publisher of Little Red Heads Across America {click for more info}. It's a wonderful children's coffee table book about {yes, you guessed it!} little red-headed children throughout America. It's an absolutely adorable book full of gorgeous photos, fun facts, and interesting info about red hair that I never knew. She contacted me and asked me to shoot the COVER SHOT for her book, needless to say I eagerly said yes! I also did a few shots of kids for inside the book too.

After about a month or so of planning, emailing, boarding, and location scouting... we had come to our shoot date. I, along with photographer, Jeni B. from San Diego, met up with about 13 amazing red headed kids for an afternoon of fun, photography, and even a little boat ride around the lake {ok- so the kids enjoyed the boat ride, while Jeni and I talked photo and set up some shots!}

I had an absolutely awesome time... the kids were all adorable and have amazing hair!! A special *THANKS* to my photo assistant too! {yeah Kat!}

Baby, Baby!

Okay... so once again, I am behind on blogging! {it's bad.. I know!} Anyhow....

About two weekends ago I was fortunate enough to photograph the 'W' Family. After months and months of having to reschedule their session due to flu, pink eye, more flu- we finally met up and thankfully all the kids were happy and healthy!

Here's some of my favorite images from our time together...hopefully they will give everyone in the 'W' Family a dose of happiness and I wish them many healthy months ahead!

Now, I know I am probably starting to sound like a broken record... but this has been a whirlwind of a month {which is a huge blessing- don't get me wrong!} and therefore, I am behind on posting! So, catching up....

A few Saturdays ago, I was fortunate enough to photograph possibly the sweetest family in the world! Their son, Luca {ooo, how I love that name}, is so full of life and has an absolutely infectious smile! He loved watching me and my camera, but even more than that... I think he enjoyed watching me pretending to be one of the many little doggies in the park that day! {roooooof! rrrrooooffff}

Can you believe it's already the middle of April?! This year seems to be flying by- it's going to be Father's Day before we know it! Now... I know Mother's Day is before Father's Day, and it is just as important... but apparently the entire month of March happened without me noticing!

We all love our Dads dearly, so let's take some time to show Dad just how special he is! Give him a gift that will last a lifetime- pictures which he will cherish forever!

"Chasing"...

This little cutie was an absolute joy to photograph!! From the moment I got to his home, all he wanted to do was play the "Chase Me" game! Up for the challenge and camera in hand, we began...and by the end of the session Mom, Dad, and I were POOPED!

With every session I do, I find that I always walk away with a new idea or something I've learned. What did I learn from this shoot? I need to get to the gym!

A Far Away Place...

This past weekend some friends and I went out to Julian, CA to get a glimpse of Fall (it actually does exist outside of LA~ can you believe it?!). We went Apple Picking! It's something I have wanted to do since I was a little girl and it was perfect~ just like I had imagined it would be! The cold crisp air, the gray overcast sky, it even started to rain while we were out in the orchard! Of course, I brought my camera with me (how could I not?). It was amazing to finally be fulfilling a childhood dream and I got to document the whole thing too! It was an absolutely great experience...and the homemade apple croustades 'aint so bad either!

A few weekends ago, we had some family come into town to visit~ and we had such a blast with them! I think we went EVERYWHERE we could possibly go and did EVERYTHING we could possibly do, all squeezed into the four short days they were here! Of course, I had my camera by my side at all times!

An absolutely BEAUTIFUL young lady, both inside and out... she was a blast to photograph! I was so inspired by her joy for life and her ambition with pursuing her modeling and acting career (she was already on ER!) that I had to create images as fun and as inspiring as she is.

Beech Fun!

Back in May we went to visit my father in Beech Mountain, NC at his vacation home. It had been years since I had been there, and I went a little, shall we, "snap happy"?! I just couldn't believe all the natural beauty that surrounded me and I didn't want to forget a second of it. It was such an amazing trip~ being back in a place from my childhood, smelling the fresh air, and of course spending all that time with my dad, boyfriend, and of course Miss Jessie (aka: the dog)!

Ever since our trip, I have gotten a weekly call asking how I am doing (of course) and "where's the pics from NC?!" Well, I have finally had a chance to sit down and relive all of the fun and memories through my photographs.

I was recently going through some of my past shoots... sifting through to find some photos for my website (I SWEAR it's coming!)... and I came across these from a few months ago. I can't believe I forgot to post from this shoot!! This little cutie is Cleo's best friend. I had so much fun photographing her it was as if we were on a "play date". She even helped me search for my watch...which I swear I lost during the shoot...but really it was sitting safely at home. oops!

When I went on my trip to Florida, I was so excited to see one of my best friends that I haven't seen in years! What made it even more special...I was able to see her little boy too! Magical Malibu!

This past Sunday I went on a wonderful hike with my most favorite person!! We drove along beautiful PCH and when we stepped out of the car, we were greeted with wonderful FRESH air (something thats not so common living in LA) and spectacular views! We even got to see a 150ft waterfall, well more of a 150ft moist rocky mountain-side... still, I can't wait to revisit the Santa Monica Mountains and explore everything else they have to offer!

"Humming" Along!

For weeks now I have been dying to get a shot of this little guy! Here's the back-story:

One of the trees at my boss's house has recently been made a home to a mother hummingbird. She made a nest and laid her eggs, and had two little baby hummingbirds. Both babies have gotten too big for the tiny nest, and have begun to "fly". One of the babies seems to have flown to a new tree, but this little guy hasn't quite worked out all the kinks!

Today, we had the amazing opportunity to hold and and feed this cute little hummingbird- poor little guy can't fend for himself yet! Thank goodness there was a camera near by...then again, working for (and being) a photographer, when isn't there a camera near by?!

On June 3rd, 2007 I ran my very first marathon! Along with some VERY close friends, we made the trip to San Diego and ALL crossed the finish line!!! This was possibly one of the most amazing experiences and I can't wait to do it again!

Perhaps an even more exciting part of our trip was my excursion to La Jolla Cove. It is such a quaint little "sea town" with some spectacular scenery. Here are some of my favs from this wonderful spot~
